PRAISE FOR THE SCORPION KILLER
The Scorpion Killer is an exceptional thriller. I loved it, then again loved it and then loved it even more!
The story is fast-paced, with action from the first page and no boring fluff.
The main characters are a walking green flags – respectful, adorable, thoughtful, responsible, humorous, and straightforward. Unlike many stories where characters hesitate to make the first move, this book feels like a breath of fresh air. Their relationship is cute. I would have preferred a slow-paced romance with more tension, but despite their immediate connection, there was still plenty of tension between the characters, and the author nailed it!
The killer is profoundly evil, arguably one of the worst I’ve read about. The details of his gruesome acts are disturbing. Teddy is truly despicable. on the other hand, Baxter is a quirky character, who brings humor despite his tough job. His brave, cooperative, supportive, and courageous team adds depth to the story.
Conrad’s vivid descriptions transport the reader to California. His intense storytelling and excellent dialogue make the book captivating and engaging. As soon as I started reading, I knew it would become one of my favorites, and I finished it in less than 5 hours, it was that good and addicting to read.
I’m eager to read more from Conrad Conley.
Overall, The Scorpion Killer is a MUST READ for 2024. Experience the powerful emotions and thrills of this jaw-dropping thriller!
Loved it! 😍
Kept me on the edge of my seat, and my eyes glued to the pages. The perfect thriller to end the year!
Jack meets his dream woman, Holly and they quickly fall into a whirlwind romance. Meanwhile, the Scorpion Killer is wreaking havoc on the city, striking one victim after another. Little does anyone know, he has his eyes set on Holly. As his murderous acts escalate with every kill, investigators are determined to catch him. But will they catch him before he destroys Jack and Holly’s blissful relationship?
This was a captivating and suspenseful thriller, and I was totally caught up in it. While there were a lot of characters involved, they were easy to keep up with. The storyline could have been complex and difficult to follow, but the words flowed easily and the events in each chapter were consecutive to the previous chapter.
The murders were detailed and graphic, but not over-the-top to the point that someone would have nightmares. The scorpions were an interesting “tool” that signified the killer’s acts, but I felt like they played a much bigger role in the beginning murders and then were just mentioned intermittently as the story progressed. As the book is called The Scorpion Killed, I would have expected a much more climactic ending involving the scorpions.
I liked that there was a bit of romance tied into the book as well. While it wasn’t a focus of the story, it was prevalent enough that at times I felt was reading my favorite genre - romantic suspense.
If there was one thing I had a criticism about, I didn’t like that the chapters from Jack’s perspective were in first person and the chapters from the other characters’ perspective were in third person. It’s just a personal preference, and for consistency purposes I would have liked if Jack’s chapters were also in third person.
Overall, this one kept me on the edge of my seat and kept my eyes glued to the pages.

This was a great thriller! Can't believe it's a debut.
This was a great thriller; I couldn’t put the book down. Would love audiobooks in the future. Can’t believe it’s a debut.
The murder was very detailed and graphic. But other than that, I also loved the characters of holly and jack and that it’s also romance as well as a lot of suspense. Loved every hour I spent from this morning til now.
